RECYCLING DO'S & DON'TS
Place these items loose in your recycling bin or put them in a CLEAR plastic bag
PAPER & CARDBOARD: - Newspaper and inserts (not tied up in bundles) - Cardboard - Hardcover book pages (cover & spine to be removed) - Paperback books - Catalogues and magazines (with plastic wrapping removed) - Towel and toilet paper tubes - Paper egg cartons - Telephone books - Paper (i.e. letters, envelopes, greeting cards, and non-foil gift wrap) - Paper drinking and coffee cups (no foam) - Shredded paper (in a CLEAR plastic bag tied closed)
PLASTICS & CANS: - Soup and beverage containers (i.e. Tetra Pak packages) - Clean metal food cans (it's ok to leave labels on metal food cans, plastic containers, etc.) ** NOTE: THE STAR CITY SCHOOL COLLECTS CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS FOR POINTS** - Milk containers, juice cartons, water bottles, beverage cans, and Tetra Paks - Clean plastic containers labelled with the recycling symbol 1-7 - Plastic cups - Plastic lids with the recycling symbol 1-7 - Plastic bags, bread bags, dry cleaning bags, clean plastic wrap & bubble wrap (bundle into one CLEAR plastic bag and tied closed) - Plastic clamshell containers - Clean aluminum foil
- NO GARBAGE OR BAGGED RECYCABLES (ANYTHING NOT IN A CLEAR GARBAGE BAG WILL BE CONSIDERED GARBAGE) - NO ELECTRONICS - NO TOYS, SPORTING GOODS, SHOES OR CLOTHING - NO GLASS JARS OR BOTTLES (NO GLASS OF ANY KIND) - NO FOAM CUPS, FOOD CONTAINERS, OR PACKAGING - NO PLASTICS THAT ARE NOT CONTAINERS (PENS, STRAWS, PLASTIC CUTLERY) - NO MIXED PACKAGING (ITEMS MADE FROM MORE THAN ONE MATERIAL) - NO CONTAMINATED MATERIALS - NO FOOD OR YARD WASTE - NO BUILDING MATERIALS - NO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS - NO SCRAP METAL - NO HOUSEWARE ITEMS
